CELEBRITY STYLING: GADING MARTEN & GISELLA ANASTASIA FOR HELLO! INDONESIA 2013
More celebrities styling posts are coming to flood your timeline. Yes, I have months of work to post here although honestly I'm not very good at keeping a chronological archive. Here's my work for the newly wed (back at that time) Gading Marten & Gisella Anastasia for Christmas issue December 2013 (I'm not mistaken).

CELEBRITY STYLING: RIFAT SUNGKAR & SISSY PRESCILLIA FOR HELLO! INDONESIA 2013
Boo yeah.
It's been AGES, I know! The last time I was here I promised to update more of my recent jobs, although it's not so recent anymore. Working for a lifestyle magazine that covers celebrities news from their own confessions, I'm styling celebrities for their profile shoot. This one we visited the comfy home of Rifat Sungkar and Sissy Prescillia during her pregnancy.

STYLE INSPIRATION: BLAKE LIVELY IN PLAYSUIT
I've been doing an article titled 'Get the Look' for Hello! Indonesia for as long as I'm there. And long before Hello! I've been working on 'Wear It Like an It Girl' on my Polyvore. So might as well I pour all of my knowledge here as well.
This article will feature one of FHAB by Bonjep's most wanted playsuit, The Ditzy Purple. I wear it to the beach and to the mall. Our It Girl, Blake Lively apparently is a fan of playsuit as well. So here it goes, enjoy the guide of how to wear a playsuit like Blake!

FASHION EDITORIAL: CHAMBER OF CHEMISTRY
After working for 3 months as a stylist, I had a chance to create my own story board the first time for Hello! Indonesia March 2014 issue. It was movie & music edition so I though I just had to do "Gossip Girl" inspired fashion spreads. I love the Chuck and Blair chemistry here, can you guess which one are they?

FASHION NEWS: WHAT'S BEING A FASHION STYLIST LIKE
Hola! Bonjep is back!
It's been too long since my last post which was... last year! Well, they say new year means new you - So what's new this year? I'm expanding and strengthening my expertise in Indonesia fashion & beauty industry as a writer and stylist for Hello! Indonesia magazine. Please excuse the long absence, since committing myself full time writing and styling for magazine the same time as managing my own brand, FHAB by Bonjep, are very challenging.
How do you get the job?
It's preparation meets opportunity that made me lucky! I sent unsolicited CV to two printed media group. Later that day during a workshop, I received a phone call from one of the group asking me to come the next day for an interview. The next day was Friday, I came for the interview and later was asked to submit 10 articles by Monday 10 am! After the interview, I went straight to the bookshop, bought the magazine and worked directly through the whole weekend to create around 17 pages. On Monday I sent the file before 10 am and waited for the reply in a week or so before I got called for the next interview with the Editor at Large, I was asked to draw a fashion spreads during the interview. To recap, the required skills are: 1) Writing - vocabulary, style, and grammar 2) Ability to meet the dateline - no matter how hard the tasks! 3) Creativity - concept making, story telling, and presenting 4) Brands knowledge 5) English - sometimes you have to do translation. In two weeks time, I was already signing contract with them :)
What is it about?
Honestly, I was looking for a way to sit in the front row of Jakarta Fashion Week and that's what I get with this job (1). I totally enjoy watching the models walk, strut, and spin (ok, sometimes fall on the runway too), especially live in front of me. I also get invites to attend media camps, beauty product launches, new collection showcases, or stores opening (2) sometimes you get to travel too! (3). Styling successful icons, models and celebrities (4) also mean working with make up artists, hairstylists, manicurists, photographers, modelling agencies, publicists or talent managers and retail brands (5). Which leads to project managements (6) from loan letters to laundry. Last but not least, writing, reading, editing, re-writing, and obtaining supporting photos (7).
How is it?
It keeps me actively busy (1), productive, and stimulated. I no longer think about better things because I think I do the thing that makes me tick. The job demands being mobile a lot (2) and with Jakarta's traffic it's very time consuming (3). Physically tiring (4) because you have to travel all around plus there's a long extra hours due the datelines. In short it's a lot of FUN (5). Of course it's subjective, because if your objective is to earn huge salary then this is not the job for you. So before you start doing it, think again of why you want to do it :)

STYLE INSPIRATION: FALL 2013 FASHION TRENDS
Sorry for the long pause. This post is actually been scheduled for early September but I've been away most of the times. But now I'm back to give you the summary of fall trends: what to wear, which color to choose, how to wear your hair and make up dos!
September is here and as you know September is a big year for fashion publication in magazine. It is always been said so but why? I think commercially, it's the season of the big ticket items! Imagine that parade of winter coats, boots, and all that layering that needs to be advertised. Also the back to school syndrome?
Now unfortunately that irrelevant for tropical paradise like Indonesia. We used to have 6 months of rainy season and 6 months of sunny season. Well lately there's nothing too predictable. It was raining all the way from January to July I think? In August it's turning hot hot summery hot all the sudden. So apparently the rainy season has gone longer than everyone expected. But yes school proceeds after the big festive holiday season wears off.
What's Hot
Statement outerwear / Rounded shoulders / Over the knee boots / Knit beanies / Turtlenecks / Slouchy pants / Leather
Patterns to Watch
Fall Colors
Statement outerwear / Rounded shoulders / Over the knee boots / Knit beanies / Turtlenecks / Slouchy pants / Leather
Patterns to Watch
Houndstooth / Tartan / Plaid / Tweed / Pinstripe / Holographic
Fall Colors
Jewel tones: Perfectly Pink / Outré Orange / Racy Red / Cool Cobalt / Regal Purple / Mossed Out / Slinky Sapphire / Jet Black / Black and White / Shades of Grey / Snowy White / Creamiest Camel / Golden Age
Get that? Now combine them all! The art of fall season is to wear layers, so you can actually combine patterns. Here to give you some ideas on how it all look together. And um yeah, it's a BIG number on your credit card bill for sure.

QUOTES: Be Out and About!
Hello Tuesday!
It's the second week of September, the end of third quarter is approaching fast. It's the time for companies to spend the leftover budget to catch up with the target. As for me, my half year activity plan has already been done and now it's time to review the action plan. I have to say that this is the art of being an entrepreneur who does everything solo, you can do anything but you don't have merely enough time to do everything! It feels like it was just yesterday, launching my brand and participating in events while actually it's already 9 months after the launch! So much has been going through and I hope these writings will be able to give you a glimpse of direction if you ever want to take this path as a fashion entrepreneur.
So are you wondering when is FHAB's next event? Me too! Haha.. (just kidding) I'm not wondering, I know for sure when the soonest showcase will be. It will be by the end of September, but we won't be showing all of our collections. Some of our collections will be brought by Scallope, a fashion webstore, at an exhibition end of this month. You can check our collections there too. Stay tuned for more news!
I dedicate this month and the upcoming months to improve my writings. Starting this September I'm contributing for Fashion Wows, a blog about fashion trend from all over the world and I'll be representing my country, Indonesia. If you want to get updated about the current global trend, don't hesitate to check because we're updating the content every day! Check my first post here.
I'm also a media partner to Cityblis! You must have seen their banner on the blog layout down there. They curate fashion from independent designers from all over the world. I think I should enroll there as designer too. If you're a fellow writer or designer, you're welcome to do so. Come and show the world some Indonesia talents!
At this very moment I'm currently seizing other opportunities, the ones on my bucket list that I haven't done. Fingers crossed I get to tell you soon, because that would mean I made it. In the mean time I found that grabbing opportunities actually take a lot of reaching out to people and learning new things too. They say if you want to have something you never have, you have to do something you've never done. Right?
In my experience, getting what you want gets easier when you talk about what you want. Well of course, it's not just about no action talk only. But I found out that admitting your needs is always the hardest part, next to realizing it for sure. You help yourself when you're being true to who you are and by saying what you need, you remind yourself what you need to do. And hopefully you'd do it? I remind myself what I need to do everyday even though it's not realizing as soon as I want it to but I'm working on it!
Moral of the story: Don't die wondering. Just do (whatever you want to do)! Go out there and make people notice you if they haven't!
Have you learn anything so far?

STYLE INSPIRATION: MTV VMA 2013 Red Carpet
Happy Hump Day!
Enjoy Wednesday everyone. How many of you watched last Sunday MTV VMA 2013? I didn't. But I did my homework and read so many juicy news from the event.
And from the photo taken, I see a resemblance in the dresses worn (well except for Miley's). So here's what I thought what's trending back there.
Photo credits of Getty Image/Wire Image
Ciara-Iggy Azalea-Errin Wasson seen on the red caret almost baring it all. Beautiful!
While Paula Patton-Katy Perry-Ellie Goulding are amongst those who slit it up to show off their sexy legs!
When slitting it all the way up doesn't seem to be enough, Rita Ora-Selena Gomez-Ashanti add some plunging neckline to their wardrobe selections.
Personal opinion, I think Selena Gomez nail it there. Sexy but not racy. Love the simplicity of her hair, dress, and even her shoes! Whose your favorite?
Cheers,
Bonjep

FASHION NEWS: FHABulosity Moments In and Out the Big Screen
If you've been following my writing then you must know that I've launched my own fashion brand FHAB by Bonjep under FHAB online shop mid December last year. If you didn't catch it in my writing then let me tell you that it's been 6 months now and it's been a thrilling and exciting ones! Just as thrilling and exciting as what I'm about to tell you.
But before that, let me take you to my condition 6 months ago. I was just launching the website, had couple of launch showcases before my partner left me to Milan. We've prepared the business operational months before but we've never really laid down the business mechanism for the brands to work. So I had to figure it out on my own since we're running different brands technically. Scary? You bet! I was never self employed for years and I didn't have any clue of what was right to do. But I choose not to dwell of the possibility of the things not working, instead I focus on the many possibilities that might work. The good thing about never having it tried is that I'm allowed to try as many as I can to shape the business and that's what I'm doing.
I didn't know how I'm going to make it but I know what I want to achieve. Begin with the end in mind, they say. So I dig some researches, go through some studies, and learn from experiences of others the key of success in fashion industry. Copy and paste? No, I say imitate and improve. Because everything starts with you, your brand, your product, tailored into one. What might work for others might not work for you or it might work for you but not for others. You are the secret ingredient in your business, your approach, your style.
I decided I want to be known through participating events actively. One of my wishful thinking is to participate in Indonesia Fashion Week and JakCloth. I missed both events early this year, I missed Indonesia Fashion Week because I didn't really follow it up although I got the reply from the committee and I missed JakCloth because I was declined. I follow through my dream by hanging hopes to participate next year in 2014.
And.. this month, I received a very surprising yet promising news for FHAB by Bonjep. My brand was chosen to be one of sponsors for wardrobe in movie production which will hit the big screen next October. Not going to reveal the movie title but the Chief Make Up Artist and Costume Stylist was specifically looking for a style that resembles Tavi Gevinson's! Very honored to have my style compared to world's famous personality behind The Style Rookie.
It's not just that, this 2 weeks after JakCloth Summer Festival has passed a friend told me about Mini JakCloth is going to be held in 3 weeks time. Coincidentally, I have free slots because it will happen in between Ramadhan Fashion Market (held by Jakarta Fashion Market) gap. So I registered and TA-DA! I'm accepted! Got confirmation email this evening! Thank God I'm closer to my ambition now and hopefully won't be worn out too soon. Even though I'm still not sure how I'm going to make it all through (still) let's just hope this is a start of something bigger :) Expect the worst but prepare for the best people!
